Highlands Church, in imitation of what we call “the ridiculous love Almighty God has for each of us and all of us”, desires to live and love without labels. It is a vision that seems like the natural and right thing to do, according to pastor Mark Tidd who stated that, “All manner of people who were not acceptable by the religious standards of the first century found the wide embrace of God in Jesus Christ. Since God doesn’t pick and choose who will be invited into full participation of the church and faith community, neither should we. If it can include me, I don’t see how it could exclude anyone.”

Welcome to Highlands Church

What We’re Trying to Do

Together as a faith community following on the heels of Jesus, we’re trying to do what God has asked people for thousands of years to do, through the prophet Micah who wrote, “He has shown all you people what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

What Kind of Community We’re Trying to Be

In imitation of the ridiculous love Almighty God has for each of us, we try to live and love without labels. Each week before the message we are reminded that:

Married, divorced or single here, it's one family that mingles here.
Conservative or liberal here, we’ve all gotta give a little here.
Big or small here, there’s room for us all here.
Doubt or believe here, we all can receive here.
Queer or straight here, there’s no hate here
Woman or man here, everyone can here.
Whatever your race here, for all of us grace here.

What We Believe

At Highlands Church, though our culture, thoughts and practices are often very different from the church of the first century, our beliefs about God are consistent with what followers of Jesus have been saying from the beginning as expressed in the Apostle’s Creed.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
and He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
